Along the Way....
I am very pleased to announce that last weekend's Lawn Fete was a great success. Early numbers indicate it may have been one of our best. However, we still have bills to pay and have not yet calculated the increase in costs to us over last year. As you know, prices have increased across the board. Once we have paid all the bills we will have a better sense of our net profit. Our gross number is about $260,000. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
Such an undertaking would not be possible if it wasn't for your willing spirit and generous donations of time. I know first hand that it is not easy and there were a lot of sore feet and legs on Monday morning. It is very much appreciated. Because of the Lawn Fete income, we are able to stay financially sound. In additon to our volunteers and supporters, I want to thank Karen Basher, Shaun Keenen and Ziggy Kucewicz Jr. for their leadership, time, and dedication as our Lawn Fete Chairs. A lot of planning, hard work and administration goes into this endeavor As a parish, we are very grateful to them for all they do.
Last weekend and next weekend, we welcome a familiar face back among us. Fr. Ben Fiore is in Buffalo for a little vacation and will once again be celebrating the Eucharist with us. It is great to see him again. Wish him well when you see him!
Also, this fall, in October, our Worship Committee is sponsoring a wonderful retreat for a few evenings. We are very pleased that Gregory Norbert will be with us. Although you may not know his name, you will recognized the many hymns that he composed with the monks at Weston Priory. Songs such as "Hosea", "Come back to Me", and "All I Ask of You". The dates are October 1st and 2ne, plan now on joining us in prayer and song.

Nicaraguan Mission
We welcome Ann Marie Zon, who will speak at all Masses this weekend, August 9 and 10. A second collection will be taken up at Mass and trucks are here to accept any item donations you have. Clothing, household items, and SPANISH readings will be accepted. NO bikes, winter coats, or ENGLISH readings can be accepted.
Packing Instructions:
* Please pack your goods in a box and fold the flaps...do not seal the box.
* Do NOT wrap dishes or glasses in newspaper (we must unpack and repack these). Please wrap fragile items in CLOTHING.
* Please drop off your boxes at the Rectory Garages before and after weekend Masses on August 9 and 10.
The Youth Group and OLBS Outreach thank you for your help and donations. Your goods will be sent to Nicaragua to help those who need so much. If you don't have items to send you may make a financial donation:
$30 sends a child to elementary school - for a year!
$50 sends a child to middle school - for a year!
$100 sends a child to high school - for a year!
$60 per month sends a student to college!

Virtus - Protecting God's Children
If you are NOT Virtus Trained yet, we are having a Virtus Workshop right here at OLBS this summer. Go online @ Virtusonline.org and register for this workshop that will be held Saturday, August 16th at 9 am. To be a classroom parent, sports coach, chaperone, lunch monitor, attend a field trip, be a Religious Ed teacher, Youth group volunteer etc., YOU MUST TAKE A WORKSHOP! This is the policy of the Diocese of Buffalo and is to be strictly followed. If you do not have access to a computer, call the Diocese at 847-5532 ato make sure they reserve a place for you at the workshop of your choice. Space is limited, so first come first serve.
