Little Flowers
[ back to directory of organizations ]

The mission of the Little Flowers is to help foster the spiritual growth of girls, kindergarten through eighth grade, by gaining knowledge of female saints and the virtues they represent through instruction, songs, memory bible verses and faith related activities.
Monthly virtue petals are earned as objectives are completed. Girls are assigned activities to encourage them to become more familiar with their faith and the bible. In addition, families grow closer through discussion of the saints, reading selected prose and discussing their relationship to the assigned virtue and experiencing it with their families and in their daily lives.
As the girls grow into young ladies, service projects are used to exercise these virtues in our community. Parents are encouraged to not only attend, but to participate in instruction and activities as helpers or by leading meetings.
The OLBS Little Flowers have been active and associated with Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Parish since the beginning of the 2006 school year. We have participated in the Palm Sunday mass at St. Joseph's Cathedral in which Bishop Kmiec presided. At this mass the Bishop recognized special achievements and bestowed a special blessing upon all of the Diocesan Little Flowers. Currently there are over 12 chapters of Little Flowers in the Diocese of Buffalo and over 500 chapters worldwide.
